Cochlear Implant: Implantable NeuroTechnology™ Designed for Those with Significant Hearing Loss
Because our top priority at Intermountain Audiology is to provide the most advanced, scientific, and compassion-driven hearing care to all our patients, we are proud to offer groundbreaking cochlear implant treatment services. We know that proper hearing is necessary to every aspect of life, and that those with hearing loss are affected at home, at work, and in the community. There are times that hearing loss goes beyond the use of traditional treatment methods, and implantable hearing devices, like cochlear implants, can often help.
What are Cochlear Implants?
A cochlear implant is an neuroprosthetic device that’s designed to drive the auditory system and provide significant improvements in hearing to those with the most severe to profound hearing loss. The implantation process is led by our team of Audiologists and ENTs who are dedicated to providing you and your loved one access to the world around them.
With two primary components, the external sound processor and the surgically-placed implant that’s attached to an electrode and inserted into the cochlea of the ear, cochlear implants have been changing lives for over 40 years.
Why Choose Cochlear Implants?
For most patients, cochlear implants are a viable option when traditional hearing loss treatment options have been exhausted. By offering direct stimulation to the audiotry system, they provide users with enhanced auditory awareness and ability to be a part of the conversation.
Children as young as 12 months old, and adults, with significant (severe to profound) hearing loss are the ‘typical’ cochlear implant candidate. Our Doctors of Audiology are uniquely qualified at recognizing eligible patients, and work with leading ENT surgeons in Southern Utah and beyond to help each patient hear their best.
Recent improvements in implantable NeuroTechnology™ offer our patients the improvement in quality of life they are seeking.

Cochlear Impant technology is unique, and requires a certified Doctor of Audiology to program and ‘map’ the device to ensure maximum benefit from the technology. Once the device is implanted, each patient will undergo an adaptive process with several follow-up appointments for education, mapping, and to make the transition as simple as possible.
