BC-HIS Board-Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist
As the grandson of an internist, I always wanted to grow up and help people like my grandpa did. He practiced in Provo, Utah for many years and was the original inspiration for my desire to provide quality patient care. After serving an LDS mission, I took a job as a medical assistant in a pediatrics office and loved every minute of it. Seeing how the doctors and physician’s assistants interacted with the kids cultivated an even deeper desire in me to continue pursuing a career in the health field. As my final year of undergraduate work loomed on the horizon, I took the opportunity to seek the advice of a friend that had become a physician’s assistant in the pediatrics clinic where I worked. I wanted to know what I could do to prepare to take the GRE and which schools I should apply to. Before he would answer any of my questions, however, he made me answer a few of his own: why do you want to become a PA? Do you enjoy being able to spend time with your spouse? Are you willing to sacrifice that time with your family in order to further your career? I wanted to become a PA in order to truly help others and improve their quality of life. However, I was hesitant about sacrificing time with my spouse in order to further my career. After answering his questions, he told me that I should consider a different type of health care if I truly wanted to help others without sacrificing time with family. His suggestion was hearing. After much thought and consideration, I took the plunge and started interning at a hearing clinic in Orem, Utah and it was the best decision I have ever made! Having the opportunity to work one-on-one with patients to improve their hearing is the most rewarding experience imaginable. Nothing makes me feel better than to see someone’s face light up when they hear the whisper of their loved one for the first time in 20 years. The icing on the cake is that at the end of the day, I can go home and enjoy time with my beautiful wife, Megan, and our year-old boy, Jackson. After becoming board-certified and coming to work at Nilsson Hearing Clinics, I can honestly say that there is no better establishment to improve your hearing health. Having worked with a few different practices, with no reservations whatsoever, I can tell you that this group uses the most cutting-edge technology and provides the highest quality of care to their patients, bar none. I am looking forward to many more years of improving the quality of my patients’ lives!
Patient Experience Coordinator
Julie was born in Mesa, AZ but spent most of her childhood in Kanosh, a quaint little dot on the Utah map. As the oldest child, of a large family, she developed a strong work ethic and learned to be dependable, honest, and strives to do her very best at any given task. She also blames her mother hen characteristic on being the oldest. Growing up she spent a lot of time observing her mom serving the senior citizens in their community, from this she gained a love for being around the older generation. She likes spending time with them, hearing their stories, learning from them and helping them as much as possible. In high school she needed orthodontic care and became fascinated with the idea of helping others improve their lives. After high school she studied dental assisting and loved it. She worked in a dental office for a short time but life had other plans.
She moved to Mesquite 20 years ago, after marrying one of Mesquite’s own. Julie can now say she’s lived in Mesquite longer than anywhere else, truly making this her home. Julie and her husband have raised two sons and one daughter. She is glad to have two daughters-in-law join their family. They enjoy spending lots of time together, especially camping. Julie has a passion for baking and crafting, her friends and family don’t mind the spoils. Following her grandmother’s example, Julie will feed any house guest.
After many years of managing her own child care business and working once again in the dental field, Julie joined Intermountain Audiology. She has helped get the Mesquite location up and running and as a Patient Experience Coordinator she is happy to serve our patients. She is ready to change lives by helping people stay connected to family and friends through improved hearing.
